The original lead vocalist of the Scottish band Nazareth, Dan McCafferty, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76. Pete Agnew, the band’s longtime bassist, announced the passing on Nazareth’s official Facebook page.

In a Facebook post, Agnew wrote,
Dan died at 12:40 today. This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make.
He added,
Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time.

Dan McCafferty was a well-known Scottish-British singer. He has been in the news because he died recently.
His real name is William Daniel McCafferty. He was born on 14 October 1946 in Dunfermline, Scotland. He was married and had two children. However, nothing much is known about his family as he keeps his personal life private.
He died on 8 November 2022. At the time of his death, he was 76 years old.
Along with drummer Darrell Sweet and guitarist Manny Charlton, Dan McCafferty was a founding member of the Scottish hard rock group Nazareth in 1968. He appeared on every Nazareth record up to 2014 and spent 45 years on tour with the group.

Due to health issues, he left Nazareth on August 29, 2013. He ceased performing in 2013, however, he was still a part of the group’s 2014 record Rock’n’Roll Telephone.
He did, however, occasionally continue to do live singing, and in October 2019 he even issued a solo album named Last Testament. After the releases of Into the Ring in 1987 and Dan McCafferty in 1975, “Last Testament” was his third solo album.
He died due to struggling with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) for a long time.
He had an estimated net worth of about $4 million.
