IT used to be Bart, then it was Gai, now it’s Francesca.
The face of Flemington and indeed the whole Spring Carnival is this smart, beautiful woman who now calls Australia home.
Francesca Cumani is the daughter of England-based trainer Luca Cumani. His horses have thrice filled the placings in the Melbourne Cup (Purple Moon 2nd in 2007, Bauer 2nd in 2008, and Mount Athos 3rd in 2013) but never won Australia’s greatest race.
Francesca Cumani, however, has definitely won the hearts and minds of Australians during our biggest racing carnival. Her combination of incisive racing commentary on Channel Seven and excellent fashion sense make her the perfect all-round pin-up for all things Melbourne Cup.
Cumani recently married her Australian beau, the polo player Rob Archibald, and divides her time between Europe and the Australian horse-breeding capital of Scone, in the NSW Hunter Valley.
We’ll be seeing plenty more of this impressive horsewoman in years to come, which is great news. You’ll also see plenty more of her in this story in the pics below. Why? Because she’s Francesca Cumani, that’s why.
Ladies, enjoy the fashion. Gentlemen, just enjoy.
One of the great things about Francesca is she’s a real horsewoman. She doesn’t just talk the talk with her intelligent comments on Channel Seven. She walks the walk too. Or canters the canter, as the case may be.
Like many young ladies, Francesca loves nothing better than dressing up for a big night out
But at heart, she’s really just a daddy’s girl.
Anyway, that’ll do. We’ve got horse races to watch and a website to run. Oh OK, one more.
And OK, maybe just ONE more. Have a great Melbourne Cup Day. Hopefully this story helped.
