Throughout the years, there have been many celebrities who have been hailed for their kindness and generosity. These celebrities have often earned favor from people in and out of the entertainment business. However, there have also been plenty of celebrities whose kind nature has been overshadowed by either their career, or a series of mishaps that left people with the wrong impression. Although these celebrities usually don’t get the credit they deserve, they continue to make positive contributions to people near and far. Here are 10 celebrities who are way nicer than you think.
10. Keanu Reeves
Over the years, Keanu Reeves has earned a reputation for being kind and generous. More than a decade ago, Reeves put his extremely successful career on hold to spend time caring for his sister, Kim, who was battling Leukemia. During an interview, Reeves stated: “She’s the most important thing to me. It puts everything into perspective when you face a situation like this with a loved one. She was always there for me. I’ll always be here for her.”

9. Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp may come off cool and emotionless; however, he has certainly proved that there is a heart of gold underneath his tough pirate-like exterior. In 2013, a news story revealed that Depp had gotten into the habit of traveling with his Captain Jack Sparrow costume so that he could pay surprise visits to children in hospitals. During an interview, Depp stated: “I’ll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards…It basically turns into a two-, three-hour improvisation and it’s really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack.” Aside from making children smile, Depp has also been regarded as easy to work with, and many of his co-stars have said that Depp provided them with helpful advice while on set.

8. Ryan Gosling
Often seen as one of Hollywood’s nice guys, Ryan Gosling certainly lives up to the name. While those who have worked with Gosling have reported that he is extremely nice while on set, his kind nature was revealed even more in 2012 when he saved a young New York City tourist from getting his by a car. Thankful for dodging injuries, the woman tweeted: “I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi,” followed by, “”He did not say ‘hey, girl.’ He said ‘hey, watch out!'” Oh my God. Did anyone else just get weak in the knees?”

7. Russell Brand
After his brief marriage to pop-star Katy Perry, many people did not know what to make of actor/comedian, Russell Brand. However, Brand showed a serious and caring side in 2012 when he treated a homeless Los Angeles man to a free breakfast. Other reports also revealed that earlier that year, Brand personally drove a stranger to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

6. T.I.
Rapper T.I. may have served jail time for purchasing and owning illegal weapons, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a nice guy. T.I., who stars in his own family themed reality TV show on VH1, has proven to be a dedicated father and husband. Despite his troubled past, T.I. seems to be doing everything in his power to teach his kids how to be responsible citizens.

5. Carrie Underwood
Over the years, musician Carrie Underwood has proven to be extremely giving. Although she admits that she isn’t as ‘soft’ as some people may think, Underwood certainly has a soft spot in her heart for those in need. Throughout her career, Underwood has become known for giving back to the community, and as a result, she earned the 2014 Country Radio Broadcasters Artist Humanitarian Award.

4. The Game
Former G-UNIT rapper and known gang member, Jayceon Taylor AKA The Game, was once one of the toughest guys on the streets of Compton. However, becoming a father helped give The Game a new perspective on life, and over the years he has worked to change his ways. Now a dedicated father of three, Game is giving back to those who are coming from situations similar to his. In 2013, The Game founded The Robin Hood Project, through which he personally donates money to those in need.

3. Janice Dickinson
Janice Dickinson, the self-proclaimed world’s first supermodel, is often considered rude and arrogant. However, writer Kate Torgovnick who has spent time with Dickinson, said that Dicksinson was calm and cool in the face of adversity. Torgovnick stated: “She was out-of-control crazy, but kept her cool after her two large dogs escaped from the photo shoot we were at. We had to scour the neighborhood (in heels) and these two young boys had ‘found’ the dogs and were walking them on makeshift rope leashes. Instead of freaking out, Janice gave them $20 each and invited them to come back to the shoot to chow down on the catering table, which they did. When we wrapped, she asked me to come out for drinks with her.”

Seriel monogomist, Taylor Swift, has left a bad taste in the mouth’s of many. However, whether or not people love or hate T. Swift, no one can deny that she seems to be a pretty nice person. Swift is well-known for supporting several charitable causes, and she has also taken time out of her busy schedule to visit some of her most dedicated fans.

Pop-star Justin Bieber’s recent antics have made him almost impossible to like. However, Bieber isn’t all bad decisions.
